Announcements :

*Health Checks continue at the Conservation Clubhouse on the third Wed. of each month. These are monitored by nursing staff from a LaPorte Rehab and Nursing facility and retired Lion RN's. Particpated in Community Mill Pond Festival. Lions Club Booth resulted in three new members Have several members in the PBI Vision Program.We are testing at local schools and events. Have generated attendance interest by having improved programs. Have built barrell train available for your picnics, or fund raisers.Contact Lion Gene at 219-767-2372. Most recently in Football Hall of Fame parade in South Bend, IN. .Successful chicken bar-b-que in June-a sell out. Installed new members in Sept. at local restaurant conducted by Governor Kevin Row.Look forward to working with new governor, Dennis Brown. Continue the sponsorship of the Leos Club at the South Central School.nbsp; Hosting the Harlem Ambassadors Basket Ball Team on Oct.21 at South Central School. Will be serving senior citizens of our Township at the annual Christmas dinner. We honor one person with a Citizen of the Year plaque...

Activities :

Co-Sponsors w/ two other Lions Clubsd in formation of Leos Club at the local High School.Installation of 24 Leo Members on Nov. 21,2008. Installed by Governor Kevin Roe. Leos continue to be active with Habitat for Humanity house building and to assist Lions in local projects. Senior Citizen Dinner each December since 1980* High School Scholarship Leo and another chosen* County Roads Cleanup* Candy Sales* Street Lights at intersections of hiway and county roads* Hearing Aid and Eyeglass Recycling* Faculty Recognition at School* Lions Medic Alert Program* Co-host community Halloween Party* Decorations in the downtown area for holidays* Monthly Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar testing* *40 Active Members including four Melvin Jones Award winners~ Two members gong to Mexico in Febraury for the annual Eyeglass Mission*. Will actively participate in annual Mill Pond Festival 8-22/23-09 with cooking hogs and serving, offering train rides and manning the poker booth. Have a Lions International Booth with handouts and invitations for joining.
